Poppits - FTU Open Species and Base!

I hope you guys enjoy this new open species I've made for you! They're from the same setting as slinks and cudalforms, so having fun breedables adventures with them is highly encouraged. This base is paint friendly and should only require the bucket tool and some optional scribbling if you want to give them fun patterns. c;


 SPECIES INFO 

Poppits  are sort of a "baby's first genetics experiment" for very young cudalforms. Playing with poppit genetics is often how they first learn to change basic traits in animals such as coloration and pattern, but that doesn't stop some of the little tykes from doing wackier things like giving them twenty legs and ten eyes. Other than the fact that they don't live more than a month or two (this is intentional to encourage the younglings to learn more so they can extend their poppit's lifespan), they're very docile and easy to care for pets that pretty much just eat leaves and vegetable scraps. Poppits, despite their appearance, are actually endotherms - which means they're warm-blooded, an unlike earth insects, they produce hemoglobin and have red blood. They also reproduce orally, much like slinks and cudalforms themselves, and lay tiny marble-sized white ping-pong ball eggs. They start out as big as their eggs and only grow as large as a guinea pig, barring any genetic alteration. Thought they have wings, they're flightless and instead use them for communication via flapping and rattling them about much like bees.

The poppit shown above is albino, which is the usual default color morph when children first get them; think of them like white lab mice. They can be genetically altered to have pretty much any color or pattern, and even though they're usually given as-is to beginners, some older cudalforms and members of other races have taken to keeping, breeding, and selling designer poppits who already have brilliantly decorated bodies and other special tweaks.
